#ThrowbackThursday – The Tiki Edition

Eric and I have had many parties in our time together. In fact, we used to have two big parties every year. One for New Year’s Eve and one for my birthday, which we usually held in May. Many of our friends looked forward to these parties, especially the one for my birthday. This was because, by that time of year, we had been cooped up inside all winter and needed to be outside doing some socializing.

Because most of our friends worked shift work, we often had to begin planning the birthday party a few months in advance. We tried our best to accommodate as many as we could. But regardless of who was able to be there, it was always a great time! And considering many of our guests didn’t belong to the same cliques, they were all friends with Eric & me, and all managed to get along. There were only ever three parties where fights had broken out and they all involved the same person. Once that person was no longer welcome, there were no longer fights. Needless to say, the birthday party night was a night that many of us looked forward to.

#ThrowbackThursday to 2009. Party night with Holdin MaGroin, the Tequila Tiki god.

That’s right! For my 30th birthday, we had a tiki-themed party, with a paper mache mascot as the host of the tequila bar. It was awesome! And one of the few events where all of my siblings were together! This particular party started early and went late… like we saw the sunset and then rise again. I tell you, I don’t think I could EVER do it again! But when you’re in your 20’s and 30’s, you have the capability to “party hardy” until the sun comes up! And that we did! There were always jello shots, tequila, lots of food, a bonfire, and tons of awesome friends. I would not change those days for the world! We had so much fun!

That being said, once we are allowed to have large gatherings outside again, we definitely want to have a good get-together. Just maybe not partying until the sun rises. I’m definitely too old for that!
