#SaturdaySnacks – The Yummy Edition
On the long weekend, Eric and I were in Gimli smoking an amazing brisket (see the post here https://millixi.me/foodcomasunday-the-brisket-edition/). While he was out getting some additional groceries that we required, he decided to stop and get some treats. And boy was I happy!
There is a fantastic bakery in town, Sugar Me Cookie Boutique, and he wanted to stop and get a vinarterta for a treat. The bakery is under newer ownership, and I’ve heard nothing but good things about the latest products, so I asked him to get me a treat as well. What he brought back was so delicious!
He picked out a mini red-velvet cheesecake which was so smooth and decadent! Some mouthwatering cinnamon buns, which were sticky, sweet, and yummy even the next day. A beautiful Vinaterta, with seven magnificent layers bursting with their signature flavour and a light sweep of icing on the top.
But my absolute favourite had to be the butter tarts. I am not a fan of raisins being in my butter tarts (I know, I know, that is the way they are supposed to be.) But I am getting more accustomed to the thought as I get older. I opted for the pecan ones, which did not disappoint! The crust was the perfect consistency of flakiness and melted in your mouth. The creamy butter filling was smooth, and it had a few candied pecans on top. The perfect combination! Just thinking of them now is making my mouth water.
And to top it all off, he stopped at my favourite local coffee shop, Flatland Coffee Roasters, and got me an iced vanilla latte.
Such a great fit to go with our snacks!
Do you have a favourite bakery and coffee shop where you live?
By the way, credit for the photos goes to Sugar Me Cookie Boutique, as the treats were so good, we devoured them before we remembered to take pictures. (Thank you for letting me borrow them)
