My Laptop
Today marks the end of an era for me.
In 2008 I took a huge leap and left a job I loved to go to University. I joined a Community Based Electives program run through Brandon University for future teachers, and I loved it. I was in a small class. Each professor traveled to us and for one month we would focus strictly on one course at a time.
That summer, we decided that it would be appropriate if I got a new laptop to help me keep up with my studies. I was sooooo excited.
The last time I’d gotten a new laptop was quite a few years prior. The girls were still toddlers at the time and they had accidentally broken it. They were running around the living room and one of them tripped over the cord and it bumped an empty pop can and the tiny bit that was left in the bottom of the can, fried it and that was that for Mom’s new laptop. That was NOT going to happen to this one. I would not let it happen!

Eric wanted me to be able to have a lot of options with this laptop. He made sure that I would be able to do a little gaming on it (we still played World of Warcraft at the time), I wanted to be able to edit pictures on it and also, of course, be able to do my school work, so his recommendation was a MacBook Pro. It was beautiful, shiny, and silver. I had been wanting one for so long, but they had cost quite a bit, I never thought I’d be able to get one. I ended up being so protective of it, anytime anyone got close to it, I was calling out warnings or running over to move it or protect it from harm.
Well, say what you want about Apple products, but that laptop lasted me 12 years, and I’m sure it would’ve gladly given me a few more if it weren’t for my desire to edit my pictures with a certain type of software and the fact that it wouldn’t update to the latest OS. We also had to buy a new battery for it a few years ago, but other than that, she still runs beautifully.
But, today marks a new day. I got a new MacBook Air, and this is the very first post that I am writing on it. She is gold in colour, smaller than her sister and much lighter, but does not require much of the extras as we no longer game.

I am looking forward to spending many hours with this new girl, sitting on the deck, or at the beach in Gimli, or on the patio or in my “poop” chair at home. Wherever we are, or whatever we are doing, I’m excited to be able to share this new journey with you.
Hope you all have a safe and fabulous May long weekend.
